This was a scam site which appeared to sell controlled medicines for a high price, but actually just shipped a CD-ROM instead

Editor review

This scam site is now non-existent, the website address yields only a page not found error, however there are sites like this one still to be found on the internet. These sites at first sight appear to sell controlled medicines and a prescription, but buried deep within the small print they tell you they are actually just going to sell you a completely useless CD ROM with info that you could have found in the Yellow Pages!

Fake medicines are rare, but did this pharmacy ship low quality goods? How were the medicines packaged?
  • Ease of website use and range (weighting = 5%)
How easy was the website to use? Did they have a drug that was hard to find elsewhere?
  • Price (weighting = 30%)
How cheap was your order, including shipping?
  • Customer service (weighting = 10%. Optional)
How good was this pharmacy's customer service (if you had reason to deal with them)? Or else how well did the pharmacy keep you informed of the progress of your order by email?
  • Speed of delivery (weighting = 15%)
Did your order arrive in the timeframe the pharmacy specified? Was this a reasonable time to wait?

Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware!

Chalk up another case of me being a trusting dummy!

I was doing an online search sometime in mid 2009, for a particular medication and came across:

www.CompassionatePrescriptions.com

FIRST OFF, THIS COMPANY HAS CHANGED ITS NAME, AND AS SOON AS I FIND IT AGAIN, I AM GOING TO POST IT ON THIS AND AS MANY OTHER WEBSITES AS I CAN FIND. (SEE MY OTHER POST!)

I NOW know...

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS:

READ THE FINE PRINT UNDER "FAQ", "TERMS AND CONDITIONS", ETC!

I thought I was going to receive a prescription for, or the medication for, the order I placed.

I paid close to $300.00 for a CD ROM! A CD ROM that contained nothing more than a list of doctors and offices and their phone numbers and a map link for each location.

Nothing more than the information on any online phone and address look-up service. It must have taken a long time to compile because it has every conceivable zip code in the US.

About 3 days after I placed my "order", it dawned on me to check the fine print, and then I was really ready to kick myself in the backside. I found out that all I was going to get (plus, I paid for USPS Overnight Delivery) was going to be a CD ROM.

This organization has be given an "F" rating by the BBB, and I now know always to do a lot of checking before I order ANYTHING online, medication or otherwise.

My advice:

Always trust your instincts, and check, check and re-check everything possible about the merchant.

The internet is a great resource, for ripoff artists as well.

Their new name and website is:

Here is the excerpt from their website under terms and conditions (that of course I was too trusting to look at until it was too late):

"You are purchasing a non-refundable informational compact disc, membership and password. No medication is offered or sold on this website and there are no links from this website to other websites or pharmacies that offer any. We do not refer orders to pharmacies. We are not a physician referral service. We have no physicians on site and there has been no contact at anytime, nor is there any established working relationship with any physicians. We do not refer patients, we do not pay physicians in anyway nor do we receive any payment from them. Directory information has been compiled from public records, telephone directories, state rosters, medical association records, the internet, etc. All questions asked on the order form are for marketing purposes only and in no way are they to be construed as an online medical exam. MEDIX-USA.COM

is the new name for the phonies here at

CompassionatePresciptions.com

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THESE LOSERS!

You will be receiving nothing more than a CD-ROM filled with doctors' names, their phone numbers and a map/navigation look-up.

All this for $99.00 or so, plus what they call a "consultation fee" for nothing more than the medication's description which you can obtain for free on the internet.

They send voucher/coupons for a discount on the prescription, that you, yourself have to obtain, still from your own doctor.

There is nothing good about MEDIX-USA.COM.

Neither CVS nor WALGREENS will accept these vouchers.

In a few days, I will submit my full evaluation of Medix-USA.com and CompassionatePrescriptions.com,

but in the meantime, don't pay a cent to either of these phony companies.
