Chemotherapy per se is not painful, but it can cause side effect that can cause discomfort. They are ways to manage the symptoms of chemotherapy, feel free to ask your health provider. The previous post is correct: chemptherapy can kill cancerous cells but at the same time it can kill healthy cells (such as hair cells, thus many patients experience hair loss). But not all healthy cells are killed by the chemotheraphy. Usually they affect rapidly dividing cells such as that of our hair.
