I wonder if you have been taking Xanax before this. I ask because if your doctor prescribed you this antibiotic with the knowledge that you are also taking Xanax, then it may probably be safe for you. I don't know of any adverse reaction between the two but if you are still in doubt, it won't hurt to ask your doctor again.
