Have anyone tried them and can post their experiences with them while exercising?
I've never been on that one, but I am on adderall and I can take that and work out fine. I had a lot more energy and motivation. Now my pain is so bad I had to pretty much stop "working out." I do what little exercise I can but I wouldn't exactly call it a work out.
I do know several high level athletes that take these types of meds and working out is pretty much their life. As long as you're in good health and are smart about it, I don't think it will cause any problems. Go easy at first though so you know how your body is going to respond.

@NastyNate
I would be careful when coupling any kind of stimulant (Adderall, Dex, even modafinil) with intense exercise. Your HR will already be elevated, as will your BP, and when combined with the act of exercising, can push these things into dangerous areas.
If you are already prone to elevated BP or HR, then I would suggest consulting with a doctor first.
Too many stimulants in the system while exercising intensely can lead to arrhythmia, tachycardia, and other issues.
Don't want to scare you, as many people exercise on these drugs, but just wanted to point out some of the potential risks.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

Thanks but i was reading that Modafinil doesn't increase HR.
Heart rate and blood pressure are generally not affected by modafinil. Physiologically, I can't see how modafinil would enhance a workout, though "normally" it shouldn't hurt.

@NastyNate
Very true, very true. I was more throwing that in there for the other stimulants based drugs people like to abuse and the early post about Adderall.
It was tested on fighter pilots if my memory serves me, and they did just fine in both physical and mental tests while undergoing extreme sleep deprivation, which by itself is known to monkey around with HR and BP.
Sorry for the confusing post, I am one to very much err on the side of caution when it comes to these things.
Keep us updated on how you find it. I would be very interested in hearing your experiences.

I have a client I am training for a bodybuilding show which uses it, he is in his 20's and very healthy, I don't see any problems with it unless you have cardiovascular system health related issues.

Thanks guys for all the experiences and advices and etc... but I have one quick question. I got this modafinil pill and it dissolve so fast and leave a unusual taste in my mouth and usually go away but is this normal?

Well i have my own personal experience now while taking modafinil when exercising. I noticed that i don't fatigue which is obviously noticeable but this is good and bad. The good part about it obviously is you can workout longer but the bad part is you don't actually know how much strain your putting on your body or muscles. Sometimes when working out i be zoned out or focus (which ever way you comprehend it) that i sometimes forget to drink water. I also was looking on the U.S. Government Website and found out that modafinil can increase your heart rate but only for some people but its rare. I also feel like modafinil kinda act like a steroids towards me you know when you workout and your muscles feel maxed out or how ever you say it. Modafinil doesn't make my muscles feel maxed out and I actually retain all the muscle strength I did before I workout and after I workout. Will add more information when available.

Modafinil is classified as a stimulant, and indeed is on the list of banned substances for competitive sportsmen. The use of traditional CNS stimulants such as amphetamines etc. has a long and unhappy history in the annals of many sports, notably cycling.
However, Modafinil works in a very different way, and does not usually raise HR and BP, so we may well ask why sports regulatory bodies take a dim view of this particular medication.
I have found that moderate dosages can improve my performance when exercising, though for this statement to be really valid, we would need to set up a proper experiment in a sports lab.
I suspect that the improvement is due to improved concentration. So many poor performances in physical training are due to failure to concentrate coupled with a lack of will power. Modafinil can address these issues.
It's very important to note that the safety of Modafinil use whilst exercising may not have been scientifically researched to date, so I would advocate low dosage and extreme caution.

I have exercised on Modafinal before. A few things jump out: As other posters have mentioned, sometimes when I take modafinil, I don't have as much as an appetite. Therefore, I go into a workout not having eaten properly, but with sort of a false sense of energy. This is fine for the actual workout, but I notice I am much more tired afterwords. The same goes for drinking water. I often forget to do it, and if I exercise and am on Modafinil, I have to take extra precautions to make sure I'm hydrated. That said, it definitely inspires me to get to the gym!

This is an interesting thread. I've read several on Modafinal and was under the impression people were using this med to help improve weight loss. Now I think it's just for the "energy".
I've also read the weight loss threads and seen what other people recommend, but I'm still a little unsure of the best road to take. For me I'd like to loose 10-12 pounds that just won't come off. I struggle with energy and OTC diet/energy pills are just jitters in a bottle.
Feel free to PM me if you can add to my basic understanding. Or just post. Either way, I'd be grateful![]()
If by exercising you mean strength training, then yes. I'll relate my experience. I notice that I can concentrate better on the lift. The net is that I can usually add and additional 5 to 10 lbs and get in a full set.
Note that I'm not saying that I get stronger necessarily. Maximum strength, say a 1 repetition max, depends as much on neural coding as it does muscle cross sectional area. My suspicion is that modafinil improves the ability to focus on the neural coding aspect of the lift.
I'm curious if it also helps with long distance events by allowing more focus on breathing and eliminating wasted energy use, etc.
For me the only issue i have had exercising with stimulants is really bad dry mouth. Like were water hardly helps. So try to constantly drink water.
So no adverse effects? That's Awesome I think I'll try it Tom.

Palchod, I couldn't agree more!! The two side effects I have while taking Ritalin or Modafinil (both prescribed) is when I'm up and around (vacuuming, doing laundry, or doing dishes) I sweat and feel completely parched!! I have done moderate exercise while on both and I sweat more and feel dehydrated!! I find I must drink a lot of water while taking Modafinil so I would guess more or a Gatorade when exercising!! Hope this helps!!
I have done cardio and weightlifting on modafinil, I have not had any problems. I find that exercising about 15 minutes after taking a pill really enhances my workout routine. Just make sure that you drink some water while you workout so that you don't get dehydrated. I am not a doctor, so just double check with your doctor before starting a new exercise routine.
From an observer's perspective taking Modafinil whilst exercising depends on a couple of factors:
1) The dose
2) How fit you are
3) Whether you have any underlying health problems
My partner, who contracted HIV 14 years ago through a blood transfusion, and isn't in tip top health - i.e. suffers fatigue, extreme tiredness, which is probably due to a mixture of his combination therapy and his condition bought some modafinil offline. He was fine with it for a few weeks, but after carrying several very large and heavy grocery bags up seven flights of stairs, he collapsed. We took him to A&E, and explained that he had taken Modafinil, and they found that he had a fairly benign heart murmur, which was exacerbated by the Modafinil during exercise and this sudden rise in BP and heart caused him to pass out.
I'd make sure you're in really good health, and in particular, don't have any cardio-respiritory issues before commencing on this drug. I tried a tiny dose myself, because I'm extremely curious, and it made me feel unbelievably anxious and made my heart race to a unnatural degree. It is actually listed as an anxiogenic - i.e. the opposite of an anxiolytic (anxiolytics being things like benzodiazepines). If you have anxiety issues, I'd advise even more caution when approaching this drug.
All the best,
