Default How can you get your doctor to prescribe you Provigil./Modafinil

I'd like to talk to my doctor about getting put on Provigil to help me stay awake (I work night shift) and to help out with weight loss. How can I get him to prescribe it to me--I don't want him to think I am a druggie who will go sell it or something.

Provigil is non-narcotic so just tell your Doctor the same thing you wrote here.
He may give you Provigil or he may prescribe something else thats sure to help you.
    Good luck

I get provigil for e.d.s(excessive daytime sleepiness) and it works wonderful,it is non narcotic, but it is a stimulant,it helps keep you awake and good with energy, alot of people get it for shift work so you should have no problem, good-luck

Polynikes666 will become famous soon enough

I'm not certain that a GP would prescribe it, but a legitimate sleep disorder physician would be a good place to start. Have you had a sleep study analysis?

@Birdy Someone else mentioned talking to a specialist in sleep disorders and that may be what you need. The first place to start of course is primary care and simply describing your symptoms to the doc without requesting a medication is a surefire way to avoid looking like a druggie. Remember that a GP should give you the benefit of the doubt. Try not to tense up if the GP discusses non-pharmacological means to deal with your symptoms. They know to watch for that.

Unless you have a history of substance abuse in your records in which case you will have to start with a clean slate with a different GP and not bring your records.
