Have you seen an epidemic of Heroine or Oxycontin addiction in your area

I live near Detroit and it used to be a inner city thing but in the last couple of years it has moved in to the suburbs. I'm talking even the rich suburbs. It seems that the kids are spreading Oxy's that they steal from their parents or from their parent's pharmacies at local schools. Eventually it leads to Heroine use because Heroine is so much cheaper but is the same basic drug. I am a recovering Heroine addict myself (5 years sober) but it seems that 90% of the people coming into recovery groups are young kids and are dying almost on a daily basis when they relapse.

Is this a Detroit area thing here or have you seen it in other cities?

This is common in big cities in north america. Not so much in small towns or in other continents. My own small town in Alberta doesn't have much more than marijuana.

i live very far from detroit and oxy and other drugs are the way most people secretly make a living. around where i live you can be a farmer and live in a 3 story mansion. or work in a factory and have a house and a cabin off somewhere in the mountains. so its not only there.

Yeah I grew up in MD. People weren't hardcore enough to do heroin but rich enough to afford Oxycotin. It was pretty bad.

i'm a 17 year old and a junior in high school, i live in a medium sized town in pennsylvania.. there is a lot of drugs floating around my high school. i've pretty much seen everything except for meth. so it's not just detriot.
