Drug Tests? Heroin and Oxycontin
my cousin is addicted to Oxycontin and she got treatment and is taking "blockers"... i one of her "friends" told me that she is starting to do Heroin..

I want her to take a pee test but she told me that the blockers would test positive for Heroin anyways ... is this true!?
I'm just looking to find an answer because if its true then I'll do the whole "tough love" thing and not help her out anymore and help her find another place to live.

Even if she did test positive, then what? Where would you go with this information and what change would it make in her treatment? And, the results would only go to her and her alone so she could tell you whatever she wanted as to how the test came out. You need to voice to her that her choices are going to put her right back where she started and is that what she wants. Then, it is all up to her.

<-- herioine addict... clean 51 days

a cheap pee test is unrelyable. Go to the dr if you want real results, if she is anything like me she will NOT go with you, until she reaches a really low low... (rock bottom).

I have been in recovery 4 times, I only really wanted this last time, because I was at a very low low.
Love her, thats what she needs.

advice
Hi,
Methadone's usefulness in treatment of opioid dependence is the result of several factors. It has cross-tolerance with other opioid including heroin and morphine and a long duration of effect, with the result that oral dosing with methadone will stabilize the patient by stopping the opioid withdrawal syndrome. Secondly, it's also possible to block the euphoric effects of heroin, morphine, and similar drugs but only in higher doses (60-80 mg+). As a result, properly dosed methadone patients can reduce or stop altogether their use of these substances.
