Does aspirin help trees?

I have two post oak trees that don't look very healthy this spring.
My neighbor suggested I sprinkle a bunch of aspirin tablets around the drip line and water them in, and that sometimes this can help a sick tree?? Has anybody heard of this?

I saw a study which says aspirin might help citrus trees to prevent mottling or yellowing of the leaves. Growers in Citrus Belt in Florida claims his trees are healthier. You can try if the same thing will happen to yours.

There are a lot of medications that have been suggested to place on plants to preserve them and help it grow. Some have even placed sodium hypochlorite (bleach) for plant preservation. Unfortunately, there has been no data to show that these medications has successfully cured the tree of its ailment.
