i recently had a fall and was precribed oxycontin for pain, I have noticed that im sweating on and off and now have developed itching since taking this and it appears its getting worse, does anyone know if i quit taking this how long these side effects will last, i have tried cortisone cream for the itch but it is not helping. thanks in advance
Most common side effects of oxycontin includes constipation, nausea, somnolence, dizziness, vomiting, itchiness, headache, dry mouth, sweating, and weakness. You may ask your doctor what to take for the itchiness (anti-allergy drugs may be given.)
These are pretty common side effects for opiates. Unless you see a rash on your skin, this will usually go away in a few days. If it gets too uncomfortable, try using a good moisturizer. That should help. The sweating may come and go even after a couple days so you may want to decide if you can deal with that or not.
