Suboxone is one of the medications approved for the treatment of opiate dependence. It's active ingredient is buprenorphine hydrochloride which reduces the symptoms of opiate dependence and has an additional ingredient, naloxone, to prevent misuse.

Oxycontin is a different drug. You didn't really ask anything about this drug but your heading says "suboxone vs oxycontin 80mg?" then I presumed you want to know about this. Its a narcotic pain reliever similar to morphine.

Don't worry about taking suboxone. If you want to get rid of your addiction, you're on the right track. Good luck!

Suboxone is addictive in itself.
If I can help it, I tell my clients to try a "Cold-Turkey" Detox if they haven't been on an opiate for a long time (less than 6 months) I find that doing this in a 'controlled' setting really helps them. They do get help for muscle cramps, diarrhea and insomnia. They never forget how rough it was to go through withdrawals and it WILL stay with them a lot longer than a quick Detox at an expensive drug Detox clinic.
If your Doctor tapers you off correctly, you may feel a bit uncomfortable but you will be able to deal with minor withdrawals better.
Opiates are the NASTIEST drug to withdrawal from. Kudos to you for making a valiant effort!
GOOD LUCK!
