I had a very severe allergic reaction to Naproxen. Now, when I take Motrin or Aspirin, I have similar symptoms. Are these medications in any way the same?
My symptoms are that I get tightness in my throat and some dizziness. I don't have stomach problems when taking the medication.
They are all anti-inflammatories. Naproxen and Motrin are more similar in that they are both non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Aspirin is a salicylate and plant-based in origin. All of these drugs have the potential to irritate your stomach with prolonged use. You don't describe what type of reaction you're having, but if you're experiencing digestive problems you might want to try an enteric (coated) aspirin, or at least make sure you're taking your medication with food and plenty of water.
Hi. Allergies to NSAIDs and aspirin are common especially in patients with asthma and sinusitis. You should be aware of all aspirin and NSAIDs to avoid getting a reaction from those medicine. I wouldn't recommend taking [U]any form[/U] of aspirin as this could cause an allergic reaction. Alternatives are usually Tylenol (Acetaminophen) or Cox-2 meds. You might want to have a Medic-Aid bracelet to inform others that you are allergic to aspirin & NSAIDs just in case you get to be in an emergency situation and you're unable to communicate.

3. Etodolac (Lodine®)
4. Fenoprofen (Nalfon®)
5. Flurbiprofen (Ansaid®)
