I may have inhaled a Motrin (Ibuprofen) into my lungs. PLEASE HELP!
Today, I was going to take a motrin, I put it in my mouth, filled my mouth with water, and then a bit of wqater went down 'the wrong pipe". I suppressed the cough, as the MOtrin and H2O was still in my mouth, and swallowed the pill. Immediately ateer swallowing it, I coughed a lot, due to the water. I got to thinking, and in my haste, i don't know if the motrin went into my stomach or into my lungs. I am not coughing now, although I still have a slight tickle in my throat, and I keep clearing it.

I'm REALLY worried that the Motrin went into my lungs, and will damage them. What symptoms would I have if this happened? Would symptoms disappear once the pill

PLEASE HELP! This happened thrity minutes ago. The pill (whereever it is) will be dissolving soon.

Your body will disolve it and most likely it will run through and out when its time.
Unless you are having some unusual symptoms (something out of the ordinary for you), I think you will be O.K. Just have to be more careful next time.

If you "swallowed" the pill, it DID go down the esophagus & into the stomach, however some of the water may have gone down the treachea ("wrong pipe"). The coughing is a natural protective action (reflex) to keep your lungs clear. I wouldn't worry about it, however if your'e having trouble naturally swallowing, I'd see an MD to have that aspect checked out.
