Have cramps, can't take ibuprofen/naproxen sodium anymore. What should I do!
I get horrendous, awful cramps, and I've always taken Advil or Aleve because they're the only things that work. Well, now my doctor told me that I can't take Advil or Aleve anymore because I have really bad stomach problems. But the thing is that Tylenol does not work for me. And I read about Tylenol and cramps and it said that it "will help the pain but does not have the effect on the prostagladins" (the things that cause the uterine contractions. So what the hell am I supposed to do?! DO NOT TELL ME TO EXERCISE. You have no idea how bad these cramps are. Heating pads do not help, hot baths do not help, exercise does not help. I need drugs. I just need to know which drugs will a) Not hurt my stomach and b) Actually get rid of these cramps.

You can take the NSAIDs like ibuprofen provided that you take something to negate its effect on the stomach like proton pump inhibitors. Another option is to take cox-2 inhibitors or OCPs, which can be prescribed by your doctor should OTC medication aren't effective.
