Depression (1 month), Citalopram, Ambien, Success? My chances to Recovery?
Hi,

a month ago I smocked marijuana the first time in my life. I had a panic attack. I was fine after a day or two but now For some reason I developed a major depressive disorder...

I am on citalopram 10mg and ambien Cr for about a week now...
can't sleep, eat, and feel like i should die instead of this horrible feeling...

what are my chances to recover, success only, sad stories make me feel worse

thanks,

Your chances of recovery are quite high, especially if the medications that you are taking are the right ones for you. Just remember to follow the dosage properly. Also, you may want to ask your doctor on possible causes of your depression, like what has triggered it. It may also help to talk to people, someone you trust and know to understand you.

Hope this helps.

You are most welcome. I do hope you feel a lot better soon. You can also try starting a new hobby or try traveling to some place you haven't been before for a change of environment. This will help you stop dwelling on your depression and try to get out of it.

Marijuana and depression
Hi!
I'm helping out here as a new moderator and thought I would jump right into this one. I'd like to add a word or two about marijuana and depression.
While the initial reaction to THC, first time use, is often a very special euphoria, that first time use usually takes place during our youth. It can have a very different effect on adults. I have known people who went into full blown paranoid psychosis. However, a very, very close friend of mine uses marijuana for his life long depression with good results. He tells me that it does not directly relieve the symptoms but instead brings then out into the open so he can observe them directly. Stare the bastards in the eye, as it were. This can be a very bad thing if you are not up to it, but in this way, he feels that marijuana can help us use our depression as a path to real happiness.
Celexa is a good drug, my personal favorite of its class, some others experience vary widely however. You must be very careful with the Ambien as any depressant can add to your depression. When you feel up to giving that up, do so.
Best of luck love, let us know how it goes!
