Agoraphobia / xanax
Been having agoraphobia for years and my doctor just prescribed me 2mg of xanax, i took one and tried to see how far i could walk from my house, i got maybe 75 feet and started to hyperventalate and came back, on the bottle it says alcohol may intensify the effect of the pill, would drinking one beer help me a lil more with the anxiety? not talking about hard core drinking, just 1 beer.? curious is all

It will not intensify the effect of the pill in a way that improves your condition. Make sure that its not only Xanax that u use for the condition as it requires more than that to get managed.

Never drink alcohol with medication. Talk to your doctor about giving you something else or another dosage.

i have been taking xanax for a year and occassionally, i do drink with it. but, my doctors know this and said it's fine, as long as i feel ok. for you, i would say definitely don't drink. alcohol speeds up your heart, so it would probably make you feel worse. 2mg is alot of xanax to start off on. you really need to get in with a psychiatrist for something this severe. i had horrible agoraphobia with panic attacks last year and started out on .25mg of xanax...i did have to double it and that helped. it does take about an hour or two for xanax to take it's full effect, so don't expect immediate results. i definitely suggest calling a psychiatrist and getting in, cause this sounds pretty severe. good luck.
