I have a presentation tomorrow, I was just prescribed .5 g lorazepam will it work to calm my nerves
I just went to the doctor to day, he prescribed me .5g of lorazepam, I'm worried that it might not work in time for tomorrow, I just want to do this presentation as if I were completely normal (without any anxiety issues). My presentation is tomorrow at noon. I'm asking because I read up that I need to be using it for awhile in order to experience the benefit of lorazepam.

So I was just wondering, will it work? Or should I just ditch the lorazepam and binge drink before class?
I weigh 175 if it matters

Wow, your doctor gave you pills because you had a presentation? Be careful, my friend...I would find a different doctor.

Don't drink ! Lorazepan is a very effective sleep medicine for me - it starts to work after half an hour.
A pharmacist told me if you take it daily - after two weeks it will not work anymore. In any case do as the Doc. told you.

Lorazepam is a benzodiazaprine, which is a class of fast acting sedatives commonly used for anxiety and panic disorders. If you take one, within 30 minutes you will begin to feel the effects. It's not like an anti-depressant, which can take 2-6 weeks to reach therapeutic levels in your blood stream.

So take one now, you should feel relaxed. If you don't, I would talk to your doctor, but absolutely do NOT binge drink. Not only will you destroy your liver, but you can very easily die from alcohol poisoning.

Yes, but I would take one today, to see if you get sedated. You need to test any medication to see how you react to it. Dont want to be in the middle of your presentation with calm nerves, but nodding off in the meanwhile. True that you need to be on a medication a while to help build up for the generalized anxiety from day to day, but 0.5mg ativin/lorazepam will help calm you down before you go. Take on hour before you present, but please test it this afternoon, or something to see how you react on it.
