you'll be amazed at how quickly the penicillin will get to work.it kills the bacteria that is causing you pain.take soluble paracetamol.and drink plenty fluids and sleep when you can.a couple of days you should feel a lot better.ice cream is good for soothing your throat or ice lollies.

you have tonsilitis with the sounds of it. try gargling with an antiseptic mouthwash or hot salty water if you can do it. when i had tonsilitis i had it for a full week. its was very painful

The doc probably prescribed Penicillin for Strep throat. If untreated it can cause kidney and heart disease. So, if you have Strep, take the meds. Try warm salt water gargles sometimes help. Popcicles or not too hot soup. Once the antibiotics kick in, the soreness of your throat should go away.

A sore throat? I dont think thats the case. A sore throat causes just pain when swallowing and possible fever. Sore throats dont make you vomit or keep you up at night. You could have strep throat, which is a more serious case than sore throat. Strep throat has things like abnormally high or low fevers, chills, cold sweat, possible vomiting, and a shaky hand. Take an asprin, take a LOT of water, gargle salt water. After gargling salt water, let it sit for a bit in your mouth. itll taste horrible, but it can easily get rid of canker sores, sore throats, and strep.

If you're getting worse, contact your GP or ring NHS Direct - phone on web or see phone book.

I had this and am just about over it. I had All in One and by the time I finished the bottle I was more or less ok. I also took loads of strepsils....the y dint seem to work the first one or two days but on the third the throat seems a lot better. My advice to you is to take a lot of hot drinks....perhaps lemsip or make your own with Ribena, lemon and honey but keep taking it throughout the day. I am a lot better today but have not been out of the house for ages now. I had a couple of visitors that came to my place with flu and that's how I got it. I wore a mask all the time so that anyone coming near me would not get affected.
