Ok so I finished taking my medication for a wisdom tooth infection 2 days ago. I read somewhere that it should be out of my system by now but I want to make sure; I'd like to have a few beers tonight should I be ok or should I wait a few more days before I consume alcohol?
I've taken Amox several times and as long as you've eaten and drank anything in the last couple days you're fine to have a beer. I even drank while on mine on one occasion and didn't have anything happen although its not recommended.
Amoxicillin's usually eliminated from the system in 1 to 2 hours. There's no serious side effect when you drink alcohol while on antibiotics though you'd be experience increased side effects of amoxicillin if you do that. Anyway, it's been 2 days so technically, you should be fine. But I would recommend trying a small amount of alcohol first and observe if you're having drowsiness, nausea, etc. more than usual--just to be sure.
