My son is 12 months old The doctor suggested benadryl, but it doesn't seem to have helped. If anything, he's worse, and this is an hour and a half after he took the benadryl. This is the first time he has taken any antibiotics. He was on them for 10 days. What should we do about this? We already took him to the doctor, and he just said take benadryl, even after we told him that we'd heard of it making other babies worse for exactly this situation.

When my son was two, his doctor said to give him claritin. It worked very well for him. He was supposed to take it every 24 hours, but I gave it to him once every three days because its effect lasted three days. You'll need to call the doctor and ask if your one year old son can have claritin or another antihistamine that might work for him.
