Default is amoxicillin and clavulanate safe for 1 year old

My daughter has an ear infection and has gotten several in her first year. She was on omnicef and that didn't work so the doctor prescribed amoxicillin and clavulanate. has anyone else given this to their one year old or younger? just wandering. a little nervous because i know it is stronger stuff.
I'm just looking for opinions here. If I was really "concerned", trust me I would ask the doctor.

Absolutely. It is less safe for your child to let them continue with the infection. Just make sure you give it to her as directed. =)

YES..My son was under 2 when his pedi gave him that..He had pneumonia and was already on amoxicillin..but switched to the AMOX-CLAV and the infection didn't spread...My son is now 2 years old and currently on an antibiotic for an infection..This time they gave him 100 mgs of zithromax..I trust my childs doctor!!! Go ahead and give her the med...

I would guess that your doctor has had a lot more training, and is more familiar with your daughter than anyone on this forum. I would trust his advice, but if you are not sure, please trust the advice of another professional.

its generic augmentin...I notice many doctors prescribe children that age that medication....if you have questions you should ask your doctor or registered pharmacist--not yahoo answers

The doctor gave my 5 month old amoxicllian. I think most babies can handle it. Just be careful with the Amoxicillian. Every since my daughter has been on it, she's been having night terrors (a side effect they don't mention). it works well, but don't give it out at night.
