Can Amoxicillin cause acne
I just finished a round of prescribed amoxicillin and found that my face had been breaking out through the duration of treatment. Is that normal?

I've been on amoxicillin many times due to numerous chests infections and a couple of times I've notices little spots. However, i think it's because my immune system was weakened enough for me to have to take the antibiotics, and we're all more prone to spots when we're run down.
However, if it looks like a rash you should see your doctor or ring NHS direct, particularly if you have other symptoms of a reaction.
Good luck!
(Try a little tea tree oil on the spots- works every time!)

Amoxicillin doesn't cause 'acne' as acne is caused by bacteria. What amoxicillin can cause is a hypersensitivity disorder or better known as an allergic reaction. I suggest going back to see your doctor to determine if this is the source of your skin reaction. If so, you may no longer be able to take penicillin or penicillin-like drugs. Schedule an appointment for Monday if possible. If your symptoms proceed with a difficulty in breathing, go to the ER immediately. Good luck!
