Is it bad if I chew Zithromax tablets instead of swallowing them?

As my partner was tested positive for gonorrhea, I have ordered online some cefixime tablets and I am waiting them. However I did buy from my local pharmacy Zithromax for possible chlamydia infection. They gave me a pack of six 250mgr tablets, so I did take four of them at once. However I do have a problem, swallowing complete tablets, so I always chew them. The leaflet said that I should swallow them, do you think their effectiveness may have been reduced by chewing them?

You can try incorporating the tablet in food like a banana so you can get to swallow it whole. Antibiotics like Zithromax should not be chewed, unless the prescription say so. Chewing these kinds of medications may cause them not to work properly.
