Epival (Valproic Acid) Side Effects
I have bipolar disorder, and am currently on the drug Epival. I'm taking 1250mg a day, and have been for about 3 weeks now. I've been on the drug for 2 months. For the past 3 weeks, I've been incredibly fatigued. I usually sleep around 8 hours a night, but lately, I've needed at least 12 to feel even slightly rested. I can sleep up to 18, 19 hours at a time. I nap during the day most days. I feel tired constantly, and am able to fall asleep within minutes, anytime, anyplace. My activity levels have stayed the same all throughout. I'm at my wits' end.
Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to take another visit to your doctor. It may be that the medication is not right for you. Or you may be taking a wrong dosage. Or your body is just adjusting to the medication.

In any case, it would be better for your doctor to know about this so as to check if there are any other conditions that may have been causing the fatigue and sleepiness.

Hope this helps.
