Lamictal, YAZ, Yasmin, and Ocella - advice?!
I know I asked this question awhile ago, but things got changed.

I was diagnosed with epilepsy a few years ago, and was put on various meds to control it. I am now on gabapentin (generic for neurontin) and Lamictal to control the seizures. I haven't had one for about 2 years.

I wanted to start a birth control to help with my severe cramps, which have caused me to miss school.

My neuro increased my lamictal, because the BC lowers the levels. He said that there is a chance that I could have a seizure, that I am not able to drive and wants to get bloodwork done in two weeks to see my Lamictal levels. My gyn gave me YAZ, but before I could even start it my parents got me the generic of Yasmin, Ocella. I have never heard of Ocella before. I didn't want to take the yaz that I have then have to switch to Ocella because of side effects and such.

Has anyone heard of Ocella, or been on it? I have read a lot of negative things about it, but also YAZ and Yasmin as well. Or is anyone currently on Lamictal and another BC as well?

Ocella and YAZ are both generically the same in content. The difference lies in how it was prepared and the other ingredients it contains. This will contribute to the differences in effect, plus the fact that medications do have various individual reactions per person.

Ocella has been found so far to cause various effects ranging from nausea, bloating, increase in appetite, and headaches, as opposed to YAZ. Sometimes, these effects are just caused by the change of medication and the body getting used to new substances.

If you like, you can try taking one first. You will never be able to tell how it will affect you based on what other people say. If you find it okay, then continue on with it. If not, then change to another one.

Hope this helps.
