I just found out I am pregnant and have been taking (tegretol) carbamazepine
I cant be more than 3 weeks pregos. Here is my question I have been taking carbamazepine for Bi-polar. I have seen many studies that show that it will hurt the baby. I stopped taking once I found out. (yesterday). Should I be concerned about this. Of course I will be making an app. but meanwhile I have been so nervous. Thanks so much.

you know what.... I think your not suppose to stop taking those kinds of meds without doctors approval. Isn't it true that those meds are slow ween you off only? I think if you called the doctor with something like do i just stop taking them as I am pregnant. He should return your call with an answer. What about the papers that coem with the meds, Is there something about if your pregnant. It may say consult your doctor or it may say stop immediatly and call your doctor. I just have always heard the meds for things like bipolar etc are dangerous for your system to suddenly stop. I guess it would depend on how long taking them and what is dosage but I woudl get the answer from doctor so your doing what's best for you and your new baby. Congrats..!

I think you will be fine. You shouldn't worry. Seriously- my sister did pills, I used to drink alot (until I found out I was pregnant with my 1st) and they both came out perfectly normal. I wish you the best and I am sure you will be fine. Congratulations =)

i would say everything would be ok since you stopped taking it very early in your pregnancy but there is always a risk. your doctor would really be the only one that could tell you. good luck.
