were the side effects bad?i have been on it for like for 25mg twice/day for migraines..painful ones..the pain really eased up in the head..also,somehow acted as a mood stabilizer and made me feel happy and in control all day...but i have been getting horrible horrible pain in my legs and arms and weird numbness around,i am always feeling cold and getting goosebumps in the harsh summer here..plus all of a sudden my appetite has increased,bad hunger pangs and stuffing my face with food all day!however sodas and breads taste awful
i am not sure if this is supposed to happen or a common side effect of the medicine..so could you please enlighten me a little about your experience?

Topomax is a psychiatric/neurological med so I don't see why this is necessarily the wrong category - because here is where you will find people taking this med.

My friend takes it with carbamazepine (tegretol). She much prefers the Topomax and says it hardly bothers her, but the carbamazepine is wrecking her life.

The post isn't in a wrong category since Topamax is also an anticonvulsant while being used as an antidepressant and for prevention of migraines.

Leg pain and most commonly, paresthesia (numbness), occurs as this drug's side effect. Some complained of memory issues but still considers taking Topamax because of it's benefits.

You should stop taking Topamax and of course must visit your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

* sudden vision loss, pain around or behind your eyes;
* dry mouth, increased thirst, confusion, drowsiness, decreased sweating, increased body temperature, and hot, dry skin,
* nausea, vomiting, increased urination, muscle pain or weakness, fast heart rate, feeling light-headed, fainting, or seizure (convulsions); or
* severe pain in your side or lower back, painful or difficult urination.
