is Neuronting for back pain ?

Hello all

I suffered from back pain like 6 month ago and recovered after two months.
I have luber L4 and L5 sciatic problem
now I still felll strong tension along my left idown to the middle of my femur
i visited my doctor and gave Neurontin 300 mg 3 tablets a day
and Dexa Tresortil both for a period of three weeks

is anyone familiar with this ? Will it really help relax the nerves along my leg and my back pain ?

I read the prescription and found it is for some other treatment!

Neurontin (gabapentin) is originally for treatment of epilepsy. Nowadays, the drug is also used in cases of neuropathic pain.This drug is good in cases of chronic pain with symptoms like tingling sensation near or around the area where the operation was performed, sharp shooting pains, severe aches after much movement, constant 'low ache' all day and sometimes a general 'weak' feeling.

As I know Neurontin may be prescribed to treat pain from post herpetic neuralgia (shingles), diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage), and other pain conditions like back pain and leg pain. Gabapentin helps relieve pain by changing the way pain is perceived.
