my son 14+ years old, doctors told me he have absent seizure,he have other problem bedwetting also,doctor give him sodium velproate tablet dose 1+0+1.5 and for bed wetting give him tofranil dose 0+0+1, my question both medicine can posible take jointly.
The concomitant administration of valproic acid (sodium valproate) or its derivatives may increase serum concentrations of tricyclic antidepressants (Tofranil). Also, tricyclic antidepressants may counteract the anticonvulsive effects of valproic acid and divalproex by lowering the seizure threshold.
MANAGEMENT: It may be advisable to monitor patients for altered efficacy and safety. Dose adjustments or alternate therapy may be necessary if an interaction is suspected.
