Effects that antidepressants have on maturing teens
Ok so I am 18 now but I had been on Effexor from the age of 13 to about 17 and then Zoloft for 6 months and now a new antidepressant for my OCD. I am just wondering is there any maturing developments that may have been stopped or delayed? I mean I dont think I have had any but sometimes I feel as though I am mature but not psychically? Anyone have any theories?

Effexor, blocks 5-ht reuptake and nirepinephrine, while Zoloft is a SSRI (selective serotonin reutake inhibitor).

SSRIs have fewer side effects than most anti-depressants. The most troublesome are weight gain and loss of sexual desire. So far, no maturing developments are stopped or delayed, besides decreased sexual desire.
