pain medication/antidepressants??

My boyfriend recently got into a terrible accident. I saw him for the first time today since the surgery and he was not himself hardly at all. He was really hyper & talked nonstop -- kinda like a kid that has bad ADD. He just didn't act like his laid back self. When I talked to him thru a text message, he seemed completely normal, but seeing him in person made me upset, because he didn't act like himself at all. He would say some weird stuff and acted a little rude toward his mother and pretty much was bouncing off the walls..
Could this be because he is on a lot of pain medication?? He is also on antidepressants, because he has been in the hospital for almost a month and has been getting depressed. I am wondering if these drugs have had anything to do with the way he is acting now. I am worried about him and wonder once he gets off these drugs if he will act normal again???

While taking pain meds and antidepressants one will have side effects such as you are speaking. The problem with taking these drugs is they are habit forming. A person may also see things althoug you didn't speak of that. This depends on how much or how strong the meds are he is taking. After taking these drugs for and extended period of time he needs to lower the dosage. The doctor should do this. He might even have to take pain meds when he comes home. Sounds as if he had a serious incident.

it could be the antidepressants. i tried two ones, one made me euphoric the other made me angry and nervous very easily and raise my heartbeat a lot. the mood change declined after i stopped them, in a few weeks/months i got normal again. antidepressants can heavily influence how you act and how you feel, he may be very different because of these.
