Side effects usually depend on the one taking it but the newer ones like SSRIs and SNRIs have less side effects since they are directed to specific neurotransmitter receptors in the central nervous system, as opposed to TCAs which have a more generalized effect on the neurotransmitters.
Actually, all the effects, even the desired effects, can be considered a side effect of taking a pill. The reason there are so many side effects with antidepressants, is really due to the lack of full understanding about how antidepressants, and depression, affect the brain.
