Are there any people who got cured by taking antidepressants?
Do antidepressants really treat people completely? I'm taking Prozac due to hypochondria for over six months now. I'm still having "thoughts about sickness" but not as much as I've experienced before. Does it mean I'm nearly cured? How can I know if I can stop taking the medication and live life normally?

I would "strongly" suggest that you keep taking the meds until your dr feels you are ready to wean off them. Never stop taking those types of medications cold, as in, just stopping.

With meds like that, you need to slowly stop taking them.

As for what the other user said about they do no good, thats bull. Medications actions are ONLY applicable to each person and the good they do is typically only relative to how each person responds to it.

I would encourage you to continue taking the meds for the time being, or at least until the doc says to stop...

I've been on prozac before... it doesn't ease the anxiety. Zoloft, however, calms the crazy thoughts, and paranoia. I suggest swapping medications. Talk to your psychaitrist. Also, remember that all medicine is not the solution. Therapy alongside the meds work best. You have to actively take control... you cannot simply rely on drugs. Trust me, though, it takes a while, but the benefits are great. =)

Nah , anti-depressants just cover over the problem. In fact they make the problem worse because they stop you from seeing the problem clearly and dealing with it.
