Would an antidepressant work again for a second time?
I took Zoloft for about 8 years with great success. About a year ago I decided to come off of it because I was at the max dose and I felt it wasn't working as well for me anymore. I was thinking of trying it again since it's been a year and I was wondering if it will work again. Has anyone had a experience with an antidepressant working for a second time?

antidepressant have come a long way. i have tried at leased a half a dozen brands. even tho each antidepressant help in their own unique way they don't quite work enough for me. if you have a problem with weight Cymbalta helped with controlling appetite . i was able to loose 30 lbs. I'm still looking for a antidepressant that work better for me. i have a psychiatrist who is wonderful he is more help then any med. which makes me want to go see him.

most meds for me quit working that's why i change to a different one when they quit being effective. i always get minimum results with med. i don't have luck going back to meds but i have a screwy body.

with you, just take it consistently. you don't have to stick with the same old, same old. remember to pay attention to the side effects.

Switching after a while REALLY does help. You pretty much answered
you own question by saying "I was at the max dose and I felt it wasn't
working as well for me anymore."
My advice is get back to the Doc and see what others will be beneficial
to you. Our Docs usually ask how the drug is working but they would
rather switch to something similar than keep upping the dose
especially for 8 YEARS!!!
Trust me, there's enough out there to help you. Just get to a Doc
so he can assess you. take some blood etc... Then remember most antidepressants take 1-3 weeks to feel the full benefit from the drug.
Good Luck!
