I am currently taking a beta blocker and have gained about 6 pounds. Will a calcium channel blocker be a better choice? Do they control irregular and fast heart beats as well as a beta blocker?
Calcium channel blockers can also cause weight gain. It can also be used to treat irregular heartbeat & tachycardia. On whether Ca channel blockers are better than beta blockers, it's a case to case basis. Sometimes doctors would do a trial and error between these 2 drugs depending on the patient's response.
