How do diuretics help with weight loss

I've heard that anorexics abuse diuretics to aid their weight loss. I don't understand: how do they work? i know they flush water out of your system, but how does THAT make you lose weight? and what are some diuretics?

Diuretics DO NOT aid in weight loss, they simply make you dehydrated which is incredibly dangerous. When you dehydrate you do lose some weight because you have less water in your body and water weighs something.

Diuretics cause your kidneys to reabsorb less water from your blood than normal, so you will urinate a lot. Taking them regularly, unless you have a medical condition that requires them, can be extremely dangerous and can cause any number of serious health problems, coma or death.
