My daughter takes furosemide, her stomach swells.
Hi my daughter takes furosemide 3 times a day, i have noticed that in the evening, before bed her stomach swells, could this be water retention?
Thanks for your help.

Stomach distention can be caused by water retention, hyperosmotic urine (darker, concentrated) and less frequent urination would be indicative that this is the case. This is a common side effect of diuretic drugs like furosemide. It would be best to consult your doctor to look into this, but it is likely nothing to worry about.

I've never heard of Lasix (furosemode) being prescribed 3x/daily. There could be a big time sodium imbalance. Call your Dr asap. Yes I believe it's water retention b/c the salt in the body is gone & thats what this drug pulls out. Where salt goes, water follows.
