Possible pregnancy on ACE inhibitors?
I had a miscarriage back in March, and afterwards I was put on a Ace inhibitor for high blood pressure. I've had unprotected sex twice since then, and yesterday and today, I felt a little nauseous, and I'm scared maybe I am pregnant. I had my period two weeks ago, but it was different, with spotting for 5 days before it even started, and I'm scared I could be pregnant again knowing the complications that could arise from taking this medication.

My question is: Does anyone on here know of anyone who took this medication early in pregnancy, and how it turned out for them?

There are a lot of studies made for the use of ACE inhibitors while pregnant. they concluded that although not directly related, it may have a hand in causing birth defects and other problems, even spontaneous abortion or miscarriage.

First of all, before anything else, check if you are pregnant or not. Secondly, consult with your doctor about your medications and your possible pregnancy. If found to be truly pregnant, he may prescribe other hypertensive medications that is safer for the baby. On the other hand, if your are not pregnant, then there is no reason for worry.

But if you plan to get pregnant, or have unprotected sex that may increase the possibility of being so, then you can consult your doctor as well so that he may give you a different medication that is good for your blood pressure and for the baby as well.

Hope this helps.
