Carboplatin is a widely used medication for treating slow growing cancers, such as testicular cancer. It concentrates its action on the cancer cells, destroying its defense mechanisms so as to eradicate them. Like any chemotherapy agent, it can cause weakness, hair loss, and nausea. Allergic reactions have also been seen to occur with this medication.
Medications affect each individual differently. Although probably considered by your doctor as a "mild" chemotherapy agent, your husband may have a more sensitive reaction to the carboplatin, thus feeling more pronouncedly its side effects.
Since I would assume that he is being monitored while having chemotherapy, he would be fine. Carboplatin has a half life of 30 hours so depending on his dosage, he should be okay in a few weeks, considering the chemotherapy treatment was successful.
Hope this helps.
