Is 3 months after surgery too long to wait to have chemotherapy treatment
My doctors did not start me on chemotherapy until 3 months after i had surgery. The reason for this is because i needed some work done to my teeth and my doctors said that for my safety they did not want to risk me getting an infection and that is why they started my treatment after i had the dental work done. Can the cancer spread during this time period of 3 months? Was that too long for the doctors to make me wait to have treatment?
Street Smart it was not my decision to start the chemo treatment 3 months after surgery. It was the decision of my doctors for me to have the dental work done first because they did not want to take the chance of me getting an infection while going through treatment.
If you need to know i had triple negative breast cancer stage II grade 3 tumor. The doctors released me the same day as the surgery.
Also i am in good health. I rarely have any pain. Had took Adrianmycin and Cytoxan every 2 weeks for 2 months and i had low weekly dosages of taxol which. I was on the taxol for 12 weeks.

You offered no details on your situation so I doubt anyone here can give you a reasonable answer. I am sure the decision of the doctor was the better, more informed answer. The type of cancer, the stage, your physical condition, and the status of healing after surgery all go into the decision.

You should not have done your teeth first.

The best thing you can do now is to monitor the situation.

You should have started the therapy immediately.

Perhaps you should secretly seek the advice of another doctor.

Ask him for his frank opinion can you actually wait?

I suggest you do it now.
