Does the chemo drug "Neulasta" cause hair loss Also, does everyone who...
...take chemo experience side effects? If you are someone who had to take Neulasta or know anyone else who had to take this type of chemo, I would like to know did it cause you to loose any of your hair during treatment? I looked up info about this chemo on the web, but it does not say that it causes hair loss at all.

Neulasta is the shot you get the day after chemo. it's kinda like a boost for your wbc. It gave me bone pain, mainly my legs. Kinda flu-y. My hair didn't start falling out until my 4th chemo. I shaved my head!!!!!!!! Chemo sucked. I had really bad "chemo brain" , still have it somewhat. So many things about chemo....different for everyone. I hope u don't have to go through it.

I looked it up online as well, and found that 48% of people who use Neulasta report hair loss. Like it says though, it's probably from the chemotherapy itself...not Neulasta. Here is the website:

everyone is right about the neulasta. it is a drug given at least 24 hours after you receive chemo to help maintain your white blood cell counts. i don't know that hair loss is common from the injection, because most folks that get the shot have already lost their hair from the chemo or are most likely going to lose it. as far as side effects from chemo, it really depends on the chemo that you're receiving. side effects are different and worse for the different types of chemotherapy. the drugs that are given before treatments today "pre meds" really help with nausea/vomiting and allergic reactions, although some chemo drugs are just really nauseating. hope that helps.

Neulasta is not a chemo. It is a growth hormone diseigned to stimulate the growth of the white blood cells after chemo and radiation so that the patient is not neutropenic for near as long.

Neulasta isn't a chemo drug. It is usually given as a booster shot the day after chemo. I have heard that it can cause some people to feel tired but not all. I was one of the lucky ones who wasn't.

Neulasta boosts the production of white blood cells, which are affected by the chemo. I don't think it causes hair loss, the chemo does that. What happens with some people is they get achy bones from the neulasta.
