Is chemotherapy ever used to treat hypoactive thyroid
I thought chemo was only used for cancer related illnesses. Can someone elaborate. Thanks.

Not normally used for hypoactive but is sometimes used for hyperactive. Sometimes if you thyroid is overly active they will do forms of chemo usually not exactly the same stuff as the cancer drugs to kill off some or all of the thyroid and then give you thyroid replacement meds. chemo simply means chemical therapy. This term can be used for various things not just cancer. Radioactive iodine is often used in this situation.
