Chemotherapy causes many physiological effects. In addition to the ones you mentioned above, there are a high rate of nausea and vomiting, there are certain meds you can take to prevent those.
Another major side effect is immuno-suppression and myelosuppression. Immunosuppression basically means that your immune system is weakened and you're more susceptible to other diseases, such as common cold and flu. Myelosuppression means your bone marrow is being suppressed which leads to decreased platelets, white and red blood cells. Myelosuppression also make your body more vulnerable to infections of bacteria/viruses.
There are drugs to prevent or treat these complications, compliance(follow your medication regimen, don't forget to take meds etc.) is key.

I went through introvenous chemo last year and am still on teh pills. I lost weight, had to drop out of school. and lost all my hair. I have now grown back my hair and for once in my 52 years it is now naturally wavy. Imagine that. I did not lose my eyebrows or the hair on my legs but I lost it everywhere else. What bugs me most is that I have 2 male friends that have had chemo but have not lost a hair on their head. I cried and cried when I lost my hair because I had just had it professionally dyed as a birthday and mothers day gift from the family the week before I found out I had leukemia. I hope this has helped you.
