Chemotherapy causes many physiological effects. In addition to the ones you mentioned above, there are a high rate of nausea and vomiting, there are certain meds you can take to prevent those.
Another major side effect is immuno-suppression and myelosuppression. Immunosuppression basically means that your immune system is weakened and you're more susceptible to other diseases, such as common cold and flu. Myelosuppression means your bone marrow is being suppressed which leads to decreased platelets, white and red blood cells. Myelosuppression also make your body more vulnerable to infections of bacteria/viruses.
There are drugs to prevent or treat these complications, compliance(follow your medication regimen, don't forget to take meds etc.) is key.
