Every chemo type is different and every cancer is different and every person receiving the chemo is different. Basically chemo kills both good and bad cells (cancer and non-cancerous fast growing cells like GI tract cells and hair cells and blood cells). You want to get enough to kill the cancer cells without doing too much damage to the other fast growing cells. It is a poison if too much is given. A weak "poison" in smaller doses.
