Hair loss AFTER regrowth after chemotherapy?

My mother had breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy. All her hair fell out, but some time after the chemo ended, it grew back. It had reached a length of about an inch and a half, but now, her hair is starting to fall out yet again without any known cause. Right now, there are noticeable spots near her hairline, on both sides of her head, where the hair is falling out again. She doesn't know why it might be happening, and her doctors all don't know what to tell her, so they're being of no use. It's been about a year after her initial mastectomy (surgery), and about two months ago she had a very small, benign brain tumor removed. Does anybody know any possible causes for this new hair loss after it has already grown back?

I am sorry to tell you that one person I know unfortunately has alopecia as a result of chemotherapy several years ago. If she lets her hair grow she has a 'Mohican' so she prefers to keep it very short and wear a trendy hat. If you do a search on alopecia and chemotherapy you may be able to research this more. I hope your mother keeps well now.
