does chemotherapy hurt really really bad and what does it do
i was diagnosed with acute tlymphoblastic leukemia about 3 days ago. ive gotten over the fact i have cancer, but i start chemo tomorrow. i'm not afraid of the pain, i just want to know on a scale of 1-10, how bad does it hurt? and also, what does chemo do for you? like what are they going to do to me and how will it help me? im sorta confused. i wouldve asked my doctor, but i was kinda still in shock about the whole situation. and if age is a difference in the type of chemo, im 14. just in case. so anything will help, and its greatly appriciated by everyone! thank you!

Chemotherapy per se is not painful, but it can cause side effect that can cause discomfort. They are ways to manage the symptoms of chemotherapy, feel free to ask your health provider. The previous post is correct: chemptherapy can kill cancerous cells but at the same time it can kill healthy cells (such as hair cells, thus many patients experience hair loss). But not all healthy cells are killed by the chemotheraphy. Usually they affect rapidly dividing cells such as that of our hair.
