My mother is schizophrenic. She takes zyprexa but seems to not be doing well. Any new meds out there?
I think she takes her meds irregularly. She is in danger of losing her job. She thinks her behavior is fine. She won't listen to me or let me go to the doctor with her. What are my options?

You can call her doctor yourself. Find the number somehow and call. If you leave a message, give him/her your personal number, not your home number. Also specify that he/she must NOT tell your mom that you spoke. If she found out, she could get very angry.
Taking her meds irregularly? That's probably why she's not doing well. That is the main reason behind relapse and the main reaosn why certain drugs seem not to work.
Zyprexa is one of the best out there, if not *the* best. However, what's best for one person is not what's best for another person. Trilafon is meant to be good. It's an older medication, but has less side effects that Zyprexa--which might be good, because a reason why she's not taking the meds might have to do with the side effects, which can be quite bad (Zyprexa is known to be the most effective but carries with it the worst side effects.) Clozaril is another good one (it was found to be MORE effective than Zyprexa in one trial.)

Good luck to both you and your mom.
