My friend bought Tamiflu tablets and was told to take one week before travelling.
Now I just bought some and ws told do NOT take if you do not have flu symptoms. Can I take without any symptoms as a precaution ?

Tamiflu is available by prescription only, so those that have received a prescription should follow the directions of the doctor who prescribed it. If the directions are unclear, check with the pharmacist who filled it and ask for clarification of the doctors orders.

That was a bit silly, a lot of those flogged on the 'net have been found to contain chalk, talc or in some cases rat poison. Go and talk to your GP about your travel plans.
