I might have a swine flu, doc said not to take tamiflu, right or wrong?q
the nhs swine flou helpline told me i have the swine flu according to my symptoms (mind the fact i find it ridiculous that call center ppl tell you whats wrong with you without seein you), i went to doc who just checked my throat, messured pulse, measured temperature (i had none at the time coz i took nurofen tablets) and said i probably dont have the swine flu..told me to take paracethamol and stya in bed. is this ok? what if i have the swine flu and something happens? it has been 4 days i feel better now but still ill

Right. Tamiflu doesn't actually really help with swine flu. Lots of studies show that it may shorten the disease by 1/2 day to a day, but may not.

Anyway, although the Swineflu has an exotic name, it's still just a flu. So if you don't have high temperature for days, and are not getting secondary infections, you will be a-o-kay.

Make sure that you take care of your hygiene though, wash hands and keep away from people. Is very contagious.

Well from what you described, it looks like the doctor have given you thorough check up. However, if you're still in doubt, you can seek a second opinion. If it's already 4 days, you may be on the latter period of the flu. You might find yourself symptom-free on the next couple of days but continue to perform hygienic measures as not to spread the virus--whether it's swine flu or just the common flu.
