I recently began to take spironolactone to help with my PCOS symptoms: scalp hair loss, hirsutism, hormone imbalances, and acne. But I wasn't sure if it would counteract with the hormone effects of cytomel. One of the listed cytomel side effects is hair loss. But after all my research, it seems like the two drugs would possibly counteract each other. I already have had an extreme loss of hair over the last 4 years, but I have been told countless times that it is from stress. Also, I have unexplained weight gain of 30 pounds in 2 years despite my dieting and exercising. I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism, but every physician I visit draws my labs and says the same darn thing: "Your labs are normal. You're just stressed. It's genetic..." I have been to 8 physicians and it is so incredibly frustrating, I hate that I notice such drastic changes in my body and no physician will help me. I was thinking about ordering cytomel online just to see if it will help even in a small dose. I was reading several hypothyroid articles online that state how common it is for doctors to refuse to look outside the box and only diagnose thyroid issues based on a few lousy lab numbers. My diet is excellent, my exercise routine is almost obsessive, I get plenty of rest, and I am not overly stressed!!! Yet, I continue to gain weight. It is truly upsetting (and pricey) to be purchasing new jeans every 3 months!! Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Is there anyone who can recommend a wonderful and understanding endocrinologist in Los Angeles?
